CDL Class A Driver – Corrugated Manufacturing

The CDL Class A Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer and a straight truck to deliver sheets our finished products to customers in accordance with state laws. The driver may at times be required to assist with the unload of the truck. This position will report to the Shipping/Receiving Manager.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check vehicles daily to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition
  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
  • Check all documentation (plant work orders, picking tickets, delivery instructions, etc.) for completeness and accuracy
  • Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer/truck
  • Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly and safely loaded and secured before leaving
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Truck Service Data, Safety Data and Outgoing Trailer/ Truck Inspection Log
  • Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations.
  • Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
  • Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management


Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience as a licensed driver in the metropolitan area
  • Valid state Class A Commercial Drivers’ License
  • Experience as a forklift operator
  • Meet Department of Transportation physical requirements and drug/alcohol test
  • High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment.
